Hospital Attachment

Last week, i went to seremban hospital for attachment for a week. I really think it was a good exposure for me.Most of my batchmates went for attachment even before they enter university. For me, this is my second year and this is my first time. I learnt a lot about medical stuffs and also what they call "hospital politics". i realise that there are so many different types of doctors there.

On my first day, i was a the emergency department where there was this guy from macau that has this serious head injury because he is a cyclist and he had an accident while practicing. He don't understand what those malay doctors and nurses was trying to ask him. and sohappen i was the only chinese there. we were actually there to observe only. However, the doctor asked me to translate for him. i was very happy that i can help out, but the way the doctor ask me was as if scolding me. whatever. arrogant bastards. The best thing is, the doctor ask me to ask the macau guy was he unconcious after the fall. so i just translate and ask him. the guy answer me back that he don't really remember and that he THINK he was unconcious for while. so i translate it exactly back for that doctor and he started scolding me instead!!! he say " what u mean by U THINK! WAS he unconcious or not???" what the heLL! how ami suppose to know... thats what he say so thats what i translate for u la. DUMBASS! don't understand english then don't talk so mUCH! damN! i seriously think he should go for english classes instead of working. the next thing he ask me to ask was how did the macau guy fell. the macau guy told me that he hit a curb accidentally and fell front and hit his head. i told the doctor that and guess what??EVERYONE THERE (except me and my friends) know whats a curB! OMG! And He scoldedme again..."apa tu curb??curb???apa tu???" is he MAD or DUMB>???? then the macau guy's friend, a japanese wanted to take something for his friend to vomit on because they ask for a thing to vomit in since like 10 minutes ago and the nurses didn't do anything! then the RUDE dumb doctor scolded the jap guy " are u the doctor??huh??are u the doctor??NO ?NO?then please get out". See, he was even so rude to the foreigners. i wonder what they'llthink of malaysian doctors. haih...

Then again.. another nurse who thinks she is so SUPERIOR.. there was think guy who broke his leg and it was an open wound . the tibia bone was sticking out. She scolded us "cepat pakai gloves dan tolong la...jangan berdiri sana". come on, we are only sem 3 going to sem 4 medical students. we are not suppose to help because if anything goes wrong to the guy, the blame will be on us instead!! but i wasn't that angry at her though..because she probably thought that we are some sem8 or 9 students who was suppose to help out there. whatever.

Simple education does makes a difference. i realise this while i was in the emergency department on my last day. there was this foreign worker who accidentally got his finger all chopped off. His friend who wanted to save him went and put all that guy's fingers into the ice directly. i know a lot of peoplewill do that. BUT that will KILL his fingers instead of saving it! if u put directly into the ice , the temperature is so low that the cells are dead. the right way is actually to put the fingers into a plastic bag and seal it then only put into the ice container. see...just a simply thing would have save his fingers. just a small mistake.

then i saw a doctor who perform a chest tube on a guy who was just had an accident. firstlyshe put some LA so that he don't feel any pain. however, the amount was so little and she didn'tput everywhere around the place she was gonna cut. when she cut at the place she put the LA,nothing happen, however, she couldn't find the right place to insert the chest tube. Then she cut higher up where there's no LA!! then man was totally screaming in pain!!!imagine someone cutting into your chest. bad experience.i couldn't breathe when i saw it. it was the worse thing i've ever seen.the way the man was screaming in pain makes my lungs so tight that i couldn't breathe. my other friend felt like puking. Its not that we are scared of the procedure, we've seen so many prcedures done. nothing has ever happen to us. BUT none of them was screaming in pain which was so terrible and the doctor just continue to put her finger IN! madness.

okay...enough of bad stuffs. now its the good ones.haha. i saw a post mortem on a guy who was dead 5 days ago.the doctor was so nice , he taught us a lot! then we also saw bout 3 or 4 natural births. SO painful. i think i'll got for surgery instead. hahaha. but the way i saw the mother's faces when they look at the baby after that...really makes my day!! the joy that they felt filled the room with so much of loVEE! feels so gooD! thats the only place i love in the hospital. then we also saw 2 eye surgeries, a C-section! whooaaaa...hhahahaha.....super HIGH after seeing those. SO happy... i even saw endoscopy and colonoscopy procedures. the scope was freaking cool. like playing some video game! hahaha! even saw an echocardiogram. We also went and talk to patients about their conditions. its so different talking to a real patient compare to the fake patient that IMU always use to train our communication skills with.

it was a real good experience for me! =)
